1.00How do I follow male carpenter ants to the nest?
Q.I've found male winged-carpenter ants in one room in my house. I haven't seen any worker ants, but the winged ones come about 1 every 2 minutes. I'm wondering if there was a way to track them back to the nest. I've killed 7 in the last 30 minutes.
Oh and would bait work on these ants?
A.This should be of help to you with more info on that.

1.00How can I keep the carpenter ants out of my kitchen cabinets?
Q.What is the best thing to put down for those carpenter ants that are coming in now in the kitchen. I need something for the cabinets and counters
A.Are you sure they are carpenter ants and not sugar ants? First remove everything from the cupboards and wash them down with bleach and water. Next along the edges apply the Raid or other gel. It quite expensive , but it works. Also, if you know someone with a stethescope, I would suggest listening to the walls and doors around the cupboards, if they are carpenter ants you will hear them chewing, especially at night. If this is the case, then you need an exterminator.
1.00How do you prevent carpenter ants from coming in your house?
Q.I've had 8 carpenter ants in my room and how do I get rid of them. Do they nest? My mom thinks it's because we have a crab apple tree out side my window. I this because of it? & I really don't want to be sleeping with them(:
OMFG no stupid a** answers
A.I get ants every year at this time.the only thing i found to work was vinegar.wash around entrances with it and I'm told regular chalk, like in school, will also do the trick if you draw lines around entrances.something about ants not liking chalk so they won't cross over it
1.00How do we prevent carpenter ants from invading our home?
Q.My husband cut down a dead tree in our front yard. As he was cutting it down, he found that it was infested with carpenter ants. He left the stump in the ground for now because we heard that the carpenter ants may move into our house if we get rid of the stump. What is the best way to exterminate the colony and prevent the ants from moving into our house?
A.I have all ants out in my yard ,every year I have to get ant spray for around the foundation, for the grass get the powder ,tip spray the foundation a lot,you just have to watch and stay on top of it,your local home depot will help you.
1.00What are the similarities and differences between carpenter ants and termites?
Q.Do carpenter ants ever come out from behind walls? do they eat anything else besides wood?
A.Found out the hard way.
Carpenter ants & termites cause considerable damage to wood.
Termites nest & live in the wood they are eating.
Carpenter ants nest outside the home & do not generally invade occupied spaces ( at least where you can see them).
Would occaisonaly see one or 2 ants where they were coming in.
Never saw termites running around , except when they have their wings but, saw some & the damage they were doing during some renovation.
Pest control guy told me to pick them up w/ some clear tape so he could identify them & gave me what I needed since a professional whole house de- bugging would be $$$s .
My home is block built so the infestation was limited.
The garage was another story.
The big black carpenter ants had nested in some firewood & had a ball on door framing.
The little white grubby termites are harder to deal with.
Had success ( I think) by dusting door threshholds w/ a powder I got from the pest control store & getting rid of the rotten firewood..
Best regards
1.00How to get rid of Carpenter Ants coming from the outside of my window?
Q.So a crap load of carpenter ants just keep coming (located near my windows in my basement) ive killed around 100 of them (just with tissue paper) and they just keep coming back... someone help me?
A.Chances are the nest will be located in a piece of wood such as a landscape timber. If you stress the ants, they'll just pack up and move.
If you're in Yavapai County, Arizona, message me and we'll schedule an appointment to get rid of them.
1.00Are those termites? They were found in Northern Sydney area.?
Q.Hi, I found lots of ants in the timber on the roof near gutter of our house in Northern Sydney. The timber was ruined. I wonder if they are white ants or other species? Please see the photos on http://www.flickr.com/photos/su-fei/ . Their size is around 8-10mm, and in North Sydney area. Could any experts identify them please? Many thanks.
A.No, these are ants. Note the elbowed antennae and narrow waist. Termites don't have that. Your beast is one of the local sugar ants. Nothing to worry about, leave them alone: http://www.flickr.com/photos/burtonandy/3353597578/
1.00I have carpenter ants and have an exterminator scheduled. Should I also sign up for a service plan?
Q.The exterminator already said that they recommend a one year service plan to keep the carpenter ants away. Is this necessary? Or will their one time treatment be enough?
A.I dont think a service plan is necessary, once the exterminator has done the dirty work-make sure you find out the source so you can continue efforts to prevent them from returning....
this site was helpful for me

Ants and Insects
Ants are important part of the food chain, and as such the process of ant extermination should not be to eliminate ants from every part of the neighborhood, but to remove all existing ants from your premises, and to make sure that further infestation are prevented. Ants don't necessarily carry disease, although they can crawl all over foodstuffs that are kept in the open making them unfit for consumption. If you think your ant problem is threading to get out of hand, simply call the most experienced a bug exterminator in the Minneapolis, MN area!
Ants live in large colonies. They have a queen ant who breeds more ants, producing huge numbers of ants over days and weeks. Once a colony is set up, a scout ant is sent to forage for food. When the scout finds a food source in your home, he reports it back to the colony. Some species of ants all proceed towards the food in a single procession of ants, while in other species, ants may move towards the food on their own. What this means is that even if you've only noticed a few ants running about on your counter, there is still a large colony waiting back for them. Ants never work alone, they are social creatures. To prevent ants, make sure that you don't leave food sources outside for long. If you see a few random ants scurrying about aimlessly, know that they are looking for food. Wipe the surface clean to remove all traces of the scent. Use soapy water.
It's not just ants that you have to safeguard your home against. There are spiders to worry about, and other creepy crawlies that can invade your space. To get rid of ants and other bugs in your home, simply fill out the form or give us a call. Trust us, the most professional and efficient bug exterminators in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area!
